What is the best way to improve my guitar-playing skills, without taking lessons?
I have taken piano lessons for numerous years, and I decided about 2 years ago that I would try guitar. 2 years later, here I am Playing Guitar, but I am self taught and my skill level is strained. I find it hard to learn how to play quick, and how to play anything besides chords, power chords, and a little bit of picking! Doing some research online proves to be useless due to the lack of free lessons that actually contain warm-ups for improving the skill area I would like to improve in. How would I go about learning new techniques etc, and the proper way of doing them? Thanks ahead of time.

There is no substitute for having a teacher critique your playing on a regular basis. Otherwise, you may think you are doing something right but not. Also, a (good) teacher will be able to speed up the process of building your skills because they will be able to give you exercises that will be good for you specifically, not general youtubers.
If you do want some things to practice on your own though, try practicing different scales and modes with different rhythmic accents. Also, arpeggios can be good practice. You can just do one chord arpeggio over and over until you really can nail it, and then try arpeggiating some chord progressions.
Depending on what sort of music you like to play, there are also some good études by Leo Brouwer that will really build your technique. You will probably have to buy a book with them though.
I would still suggest a teacher though.
